Hey everyone! I know we are in mid-month, but I just had to do something for this great month of October 2010. The articles that will be presented during this month will be dedicated to those who are fighting, have fought, or getting ready to fight breast cancer. Even for those family members who are fighting alongside their loved ones too, I am dedicating my words to you all.
As my blog is about Living, Laughing, and Loving Who You Are, there comes a time when you have to look deep within yourself and begin to look at the real you. Now, for some it may be “what you see is what you get.” But, for others, it may not be as simple; there may be a totally different person that you portray to everyone else. That’s why, for this month, we will be doing something rather unique.
The major theme of this month: SELF EXAMINATION.
We will look at who we really are and work on ways to overcome.
And of course, since this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I will be giving you some statistics to go along with the article. So, here goes… Stat #1
Taking a few minutes to do a breast self-exam a minimum of once a month can make a lifetime of difference. Nearly 70% of all breast cancers are found through self-exams and with early detection the 5-year survival rate is 98%. If you find a lump, schedule an appointment with your doctor, but don’t panic—8 out of 10 lumps are not cancerous – Thank you http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/about-breast-cancer/breast-self-exam.aspx
Ladies AND Gentlemen, make sure you get checked 🙂
